Cahuita National Park

Cahuita, a breathtaking small town where time stands still.

This place is an authentic Caribbean rustic town with paradisiac beaches etched with white sand and corals at the east side while a huge percentage of majestic humid tropical forest is placed at the southside of the town. Tiny town located around five and a half hours(05:30 hrs) from SJO(Juan Santamaria Airport).

Mostly recognized for Cahuita National Park, the town has African heritage influencing the architecture, gastronomy, music, customs and the day-to-day life the villagers live.

Cahuita received its name from the “Miskitos” the first people that arrived at this shore who noticed multiple trees with yellow flowers along the shore and inside the forest, this type of tree is called “Sangrillo” and on their native language “Cahuita” stands for the place where Sangrillo trees grown.

When you visit Cahuita you are not only getting to enjoy the natural wonders, but also enriching yourself with cultural experiences.
