Sarapiqui Lodge

Maralafárinhanhe Mitocámarama” Welcome to the local indigenous
language Maleku.  Sarapiqui Rainforest Lodge, built as a 15th century Pre-Columbian village, is – due to its outstanding concept in ecotourism and cultural indigenous conservation – an internationally awarded model in tourism.

We kindly invite you to share our exquisite designed and comfortable Ecolodge with its exquisite decor: antiques, garden fresh flowers, and an overall Hispanic Colonial and Indigenous atmosphere. It is unique in its kind. The restaurant and its romantic terrace reveal sweeping views of the Sarapiqui River and the Rainforest below and the inviting
Botos Waterfall and Pool, only 15 yards away. Moreover, you can marvel at our unique archaeological park “Alma Ata” with centuries old tombs, our Museum of Indigenous Cultures with its fabulous collection and its Rainforest Film Theater, and our botanical garden “Chester’s Field” with its valuable collection of indigenous herbs.

Sarapiquis Rainforest Lodge is more than a hotel, it is a total experience. We appreciate you for sharing your time, your vision and spirit with us.

Rooms Information

The architecture of the project is inspired by the indigenous pre-Columbian construction techniques of the region. The round Palenques are covered by a thatched roof resembling the Indigenous houses.

This Palenque structure is central to the SarapiquiS concept: the story of nature and its relation to mankind. Moreover, the circular design symbolizes the circle of life, an intricate link between the cycles of biodiversity from within the rainforest.

The rooms are incorporated in six huge Palenque structures (40 rooms), and also in one semi Palenque structure where the Air Conditioned rooms are located (8 rooms).

Like an inverted flower, the five Palenque or guest units are divided into eight spacious and deluxe rooms, jointed within the turret reaching an impressive height of 15 meters. All the units are located midst the lush gardens and orchards of the property. Many of the rooms have an outstanding view of the rainforest canopy; while others are nestled in the bright and fragrant gardens.

With a harmonious decor of earth tones, natural lime stone, and antique or artisan made furniture, guests will enjoy the comfortable beds, private bath, ceiling fan or A/C, and safe deposit box. Outside every room, a covered terrace invites each guest to enjoy the natural surroundings.

The entire atmosphere is inspired by the local indigenous culture.

Restaurant Information

As the morning sun rises over an awakening forest, visitors may breakfast on the restaurant terrace, overlooking the Sarapiquí and the Tirimbina rainforest canopy. No matter what hour, the scenery here always creates the perfect ambiance to enjoy an excellent meal in our restaurant.

As a unique touch, our restaurant introduces spices and crops as they were once used by the indigenous peoples in pre-Columbian time. Our
Chef will be glad to explain their usage and significance.

The Restaurant ‘José Castulo Zeledon’
From a buffet, decorated with exotic flowers and fruits, the guests may select a delicious meal based on local and vegetarian cuisine. Every day the chef creates delicious meals with fresh ingredients from our own organic grown plantations and orchards, such as pineapples, bananas, oranges and palmito
